Animals and Ocean

We didn't know two of our favourite dogs, Newfoundlanders and Labradors were originally bred in Newfoundland and Labrador.  Makes sense though I guess!

On our last day in St. John's we went to the most brilliant nature sanctuary. A place they tale injured or unwell animals to be helped.  It was an amazing experience.  You could quickly tell how so much pride, care, dedication, and love went into the facility. Really well done and a treat to visit.

Large injured falcon just off to the right. Didn't look so injured as we watched tear away at a rabbit!

Grrat horned owl - incredible

Cariboo

Last afternoon in wonderful Trinity. We made it out in the kayak again.

Like a postcard - Trinity was a special little town.

We had a wonderful trip.  Highly recommend Newfoundland.

Wild coast - Eastern Newfoundland

A bit of a wilder day today. We got a taste of what I think it starts to get like (and worse) for the next 6 months here.
But our awesome troopers were right out there again. And zero complaining. Tess found us another great hike - the Klondike trail that ended on a big beach with large crashing waves. It reminded both Tess and I of the wild coast of Cape Town with the exception of the temperature, just a bit colder here!
Here's the awesome hike Tess found us for today. Needless to say we were the only ones on the trail!

The reason for this destination was supposed to be for the puffins. But they were long gone. Ri did though spot some brave sea birds dive bombing into the ocean. I couldn't believe there was any wild life out there!

Here's a couple good shots of the town of Trinity, Newfoundland where we're staying. They've really done a brilliant job with this little town. What a difference from the other small towns we went through. They went to that little extra effort and it really shows.

Just going for it . . . Newfoundland

Tess and I have been trying to decide how to get this blog started back up. We've been trying to think about what clever things we can do to get it going again. But with the amount of time that has gone by it has simply been too overwhelming. But we've finally decided we're just going to go for it and do our best. So here comes a most random assortment of pictures to try and get us back on track!
And what better pictures to start with than our trip to one of the most picturesque spots in Canada, Eastern Newfoundland.
Here we go!
Off on the most magnificent hike near Trinity, Newfoundland. The Skerwink trail, the most brilliant scenery.

Our little punky brewster did so well! The hike was just over 5km's and there was no whining at all.

Some of the scenes were straight from postcards.

My three beauties

Another reason that has spurred us to get the blog going again are new phones with fancy cameras with way too many options like panorama mode below

Such a great trail / hike

Back to where we were staying and straight out on the kayak because the clouds were rolling in. And the weather report warned of a storm

Fortunately we made it back from the kayak adventure and no storm so off for another great walk.

And we weren't going to get away with ending the day without getting out on the almost 6foot long longboard! Loads of fun!

It's good to be back.
The pictures for the next while could be very random but please bear with us. We hope to fill the gap for the time we've been away.
