Offline

I owe pictures... sorry.
They will have to wait a week.  We're headed to Vancouver island.
Tomorrow is Erica's memorial service.  Emotional. Si spent Thursday with Stu and the boys, and we had dinner together.  It was good to see them.  They are both such wonderful little kids (kids not babies! they have grown up so much!).
Mon + Tues I'm calling on my island customers, then wed we head up island to Erica's family in Port McNeil.  We then hike the Cape Scott trail Th + F - 23km each way of spectacular coast & rainforest - before coming back down island likely Sat.
We bought a waterproof cover for Rags' backpack.  I hope this goes well!

Some trail reviews...
A good review - no mention of mud!

Giggles

Rags was just giggling every time he saw my face tonight.  Best, most contagious sound in the world.

Rain suit

So the photos as are week behind, but I wanted to post pics.
Last weekend we went for a hike in the rain with our all-weather friends, Rob, Monica and Renna.
Renns was kind enough to lend Rags her old rainsuit - it fit perfectly!

Rain hat - the old "wet" gear before Renna introduced us to her Newt Suit.
Ri got to try Renn's Ergo and raingear.  We're definitely getting him waterproofed!
This kid loves his dad.

Family portrait.  We all match!

Smiles from Renns - Rags is a mini-me!

This kid is spending too much time vertical for my liking!

Last week = too much work.  I need to cut down.  Somehow.  Working on it (not working).

This weekend yesterday = rainy morning.  But then suddenly the sun came through and we went for a swim @ Sasamat.  And it was perfect.  The water is still so warm I could just walk in without flinching.  Quiet perfectly still lake.  Heaven.

Erica's husband and kids come in this week for her Canadian memorial.  We are really looking forward to seeing them.  Next week we're hiking the Cape Scott trail way way North Vancouver island - 23km each way, camping one night - with Stu to disperse Erica's ashes at her favorite beach.  We just got a backpack this weekend for Rags with a raincover to keep him toasty.  Hopefully some pics soon!

Boring update, but we're happy and so fortunate for our wonderful healthy family.  Blessed.

Birthday (suit)

It's nanny's 85th bday today!  We drove out after work last night to celebrate.  Plus mom just got in from South Africa so it was a reunion all 'round.

What a nice necklace nan!

Cuddles
We were in the pool for over an hour!  Rags still wearing his celebratory hat and nothing else:)  We went a bit crazy with photos, I couldn't pick my favorites.

Loves playing with leaves
With mom (who because she isn't playing rugby has almost as many rolls!)
He is so cute!

Fascinated with the concrete/leaves.  Unlikely to starve soon:)
Just about to jump in!
Love this shot

Growing

Simon just made me feel guilty that I'm not documenting Riles cuteness properly.
(Si, you can update the blog too, you know).

So three other new things today

- Riles "stood" at his crib.  Holding on.  He still keeps his feet super close together, and with his skinny calves he's pretty top heavy.  The whole belly just wobbles from side to side - hands and feet don't move.  So so so cute.

- He loves the ikea catalog.  He was wreaking havoc on the library book, so we only read him catalogs now.  There are pages of it scattered all over the house.

- He has redecorated all his clothes with blueberry stains.

On a side note - I have done what I said I wouldn't.  I am not playing rugby this season.  I can't figure out how to do two nights a week + weekend and work and still be mom.  I miss riley too much.  I will figure this out - just not yet.  For now, I have to figure out how to get my butt on a run a few times a week so I don't explode.

Screeetccch!

Riley discovered his vocal cords today.

Yesterday - cute coo'ing with the occasional squeal

Today - SCREEEEEEEEEEETCH SCREAM!!!  He's fascinated with how much noise he can make.

Heck, *I'm*  fascinated.
