Erica

It breaks my heart to think of all the moments that she can not be there for her kids. If anyone was there for you, it was Erica.  She excelled at that.

I'm sorry, E.

Aug photos - Part 2

We'll start with my gorgeous learning to play from little Tiger.  Cat like reflexes?  Not quite yet.

Next; more pics from the camera dump

Play time in overstimulation center

He adores tiger.  We're still working on the petting vs. grabbing her whiskers.  As such, the love is not yet mutual.

Riles is fascinated with older women.  Renna, 1year

Finally, did I tell you we started solids!  He enjoys his cereal, blueberries and bananas.  He actually shuddered the first time I gave him peas.  Ri does great, I make a huge mess.

This guys wants to try everything!

Finally, a movie of me spreading peas all over Rags face.  This is probably only one the grandmas will enjoy.

Aug photos - part 1

Finally, a camera dump.  Here's part one of the pics that haven't made it up yet.

Quiet morning in Vernon a few weeks back

Delicious breakfast - Simon heaven

Tired Nix

Haven't the heart to move him

Had a lovely dinner with Kristy, Hanna, Timon + Cathie.  Here Riley is showing off his banana mustache.
Si discovered macro mode on the camera.  Love his eyes!

What hairy legs you have dad!

Enjoying the last days of summer

 I love Riley's smiles.

Not only does he quit doing anything cute with the camera around, he now wants to grab it

Love how Thomas accentuates the belly.

And I thought the knee / chubby thigh wedgie deserved a close up.

Finally, Si's been wonderful and twice in the last two weeks we've headed to the lake ~15 mins from our house after work.  He takes Riles and the dogs while I get to swim.  Family paradise.
We take Zozoes to her new home this weekend on the island.  That will be a sad day.

Bed time, stay tuned for part two.

Every day

I can't count the number of times today (every day) I think about how much we adore our Rags.  He's just one big smiling, slobbering, beaming, beautiful, blubbery boy.  He grins all day. I love six months.

He's such a wonderful little boy.

PS 18lb 11oz; pediatrician yesterday said he was the "model of health".  We are so lucky.

Summer

After a spectacular weekend in Vernon before last I can't believe summer is winding down.  There's nothing better than swimming in the lake on a beautiful day, we need just one more special summer weekend (please!).

This past weekend was more logistics.  We have been trying to find our lovely lab Zozoes a new home since she's too unpredictable and occasionally snaps - too much of a risk with Riley about to crawl.  So tough since we've had her almost 7 years, and she was our first baby.  We met a couple this weekend who are a good match, are interested in her, with full disclosures and all, and it looks like she may be moving to the island this weekend.  Part of me hopes it goes through - I'm sure it would work out well - while part of me will miss her terribly.

Had a BBQ this weekend, super to have friends over.  Just stole Kristy's photo of our barbeque - yum!

Riley continues to be our joy.  He is now eating cereal twice a day (so much messy fun, huge smiles!) and continues to discover himself and what he can do.  He's growing like stink.  I don't have pics from our camera right now, but will update soon.

BTW - an update with old pictures that Kristy just sent us:

I adore his "I'm pouting and am not sure if I'm going to cry" face.  I can't get enough of it (that's a bad thing considering he only makes it when he's sad...).  But seriously, isn't it cute?!
Okay mom - really really sad here...

Three years; Six months - both great milestones

On Wednesday we celebrated our third wedding anniversary.  We're so lucky to have found each other.  Thank you for being wonderful Simon!

Sunday was also Riley's six month birthday.  He was just so gorgeous and smiley and laid back and ours and yet himself, I overflow with happy thoughts when I think of him. He is my joy.
Rags, we are so happy to have you in our lives.
I can't believe how much he's growing and how quickly he's learning.

Six months in pictures
