Morning sleep

You know you have kids when you're calling your neighbours to go for a walk to see the salmon, then realize that its not even 7am yet.  On a sunday.

On this sleep front, Riles is finally at an age when bedtime is a pleasure (there was a long stage he wanted his dad to sleep in the toddler bed wi him).  Now it's read and goodnight, he plays or reads on his own a while and then goes to sleep.
Vons just moved into her own room.  This is a concession on my part.  I've been determined that they share a room, as I like having a spare room for guests.  Not critical as our suite is current open, but not getting the $800/mo and built-in-cat-sitter isn't idea IMHO.  Anyways, her crib is setup in Riles room (aka what used to be R's crib).  She used to sleep in a pack'n play at the end of our bed and move to the bed in the middle of the night.  However, now that she eats some solids at least, she seems to sleep better.  We've now moved the pack n play to the spare room, I feed her, put her down wide awake, sing a song, and leave.  And she goes to sleep.  Occasionally wakes in the middle of the night, Si or I keep our hand on her for a while and she goes back to sleep.

<> satisfied sigh.

Now how long will this last?
Ideally they'll both sleep through the night easily, we move her back to his room, and voila easy bedtimes.  With an empty spare room.

Who am I kidding:)

Movie of the salmon to come.  Its such an awe-inspiring journey they make.  They aren't even 100m from our house.  Pretty incredible.

Disney party

Wow.  What a hectic few weeks!  I had a conference in Orlando (within Disney world resort) last week, and then traveled to the island this week.

Orlando was v. busy @ work.  Because 'Vani still doesn't eat properly (solids or bottle), the family had to come.  Given that it was Disney, it could have been worse:)  However, I was pretty much gone from 7:30am to 10:30pm every day, so it made for long days for Si with the two kids.  Fortunately another of the female coworkers has two kids of similar age, and her husband also came.  Si and him soon became firm friends, and the kids loved playing together.

We arrived the Sun after an overnight flight and got to enjoy the day together.

 LOVE LOVE LOVE this girl.
When did he become a little boy vs my baby?
With Amy + Jesus's kids, best friends for the week!
Riles and Vons had breakfast with the characters one morning!
High five, low five!

 Long day.  Cuddles with dad.

Wonderful pool at the resort.  HUGE.  WIth a few beach areas, one @ the toddler pool which was perfect depth, full of toys and kids and sand and rocks and really great lifeguards.  And sun (while it poured in Vancouver)

Did I mention how much I enjoy our little girl!  Who btw wears size 12-18months now?

They just don't make cheeks like these anymore
 First teeth?
 Cheeks II
Tonight was Riles' playschool Halloween party.  Riles went as a giraffe, with the rest of the fam as rugby players.
 que pasa?

They had a decorate-a-cookie station, which Riles took full advantage of.

Finally, Vons is officially crawling.  Check out the vid:

Sleap = week

And that's about as much sense as I make these days folks.

So we'll stick to photos.

Random photo of the kids room.  Overstimulation central.  Riles has the toddler bed in the corner (we can hook up stuff to the crib and wall easily to make it a fort).  Vani only occasionally sleeps in the crib, we have a cot in our room too.  But there's a plan...  This room makes me happy though.

Barnet with Colleen + kids.  SO CUTE

The GogoPops came over for a night last weekend.  Riles got to cut Gogo's birthday cake!  That's his saw in case you can't see it (see in case you can't saw it?)

She won't drink from a bottle or eat from a spoon and must be tricked into eating a solid.  But give her a lemon and she's happy.
I post this as I frequently worry about her not eating while I'm at work, and still eating almost no solids.  But she's not exactly starving now, is she?
New firetruck puzzle!  Riles was thrilled.  Vons ate it. Note irony.
 Pops, stop eating my blocks!
SOMEBODY thought it was party time from 3-6am this morning.  Giggle fits, shrieks, flap-flap-flap-kick!  Then slept oh so cutely until 8:30!
Impromptu visit to Burnaby Mountain park for a lovely sunset the other night.  Spectacular September!

The two below are my favorites.  Cleaning the yard this weekend (yay congrats the deck is done!  well almost, minus the railing).  Vons was having a great time wi Riley's drill.  Filthy.
I see Tye in her face below.
PS Kivani is officially crawling backwards.  And occasionally forwards via the rock-rock-faceplant method.
