Our House! Part I - the yard

Here's our lovely house. It's the best location ever, just steps to the park at SFU. This was before we moved in... you can still see the back of the garage!Porch on the back

Move in day!
The 'main line' trail. Great for walking in the dark since you can't trip over anything. Tenge doesn't like it, we usually stick to the single tracks.
I think we need new housekeepers!
Most blog postings about house renos show a before and after with massive improvement. This is different. Hopefully we'll have lots of those to show too soon. For now, the yard has had some adjusting to do with the dogs here.

Under the cedars.

First thing we did - the fence. Here's the trusty ol' ranch truck loaded to the tilt with cedar fence panels. Si had a good time with this! BTW, see the lovely trees in our backyard. They are massive and super wide. Just hope they decide to stay put for a while. It gets a bit dodgy in the storms!

BTW, corner lots are allowed to have 4 foot fences. We went with 5 and lattice on the hope that no-one would complain as its a cul de sac. First postman visit, Tenge was over it without hesitation, barking his head off. Fortunately our postman is fantastic and just stood there as Tenge came to sit in front of him, wagging a mile a minute. At which time he sent him home. We are so grateful for a sensible/understanding postman!

Side gate to the front parking. Didn't Si do a great job?Those were before. First rain, Tenge decided we were under attack. Either by the earthworms or the roots, can't quite figure. But he was taking no chances! Nose to the ground, butt in the air, listening.... then frantic digging. Our lawn in trashed.
We put up the temporary fence and planted seed to try to help it recover. Tenge is thrilled with his new jungle gym and plays the hoppety-hop-hop game at every chance.

Licking his lips. Nobody loves me, everybody hates me...
One day we'll catch him in action on video. So frustrating to see him digging up the lawn. But hilarious. He stays for minutes with his nose on the ground, just listening, then jumps four feet in the air as though he's been shocked before starting his digging.

Can't wait 'til this guy turns four and calms down a bit. Two years and counting!
